Sins of our fathers

In the past our fathers saw sin as something to turn from and with God strengthening us to not allow in our lives. Now we hear sermons telling us everyone sins, so it is no longer something we strive to abolish from our lives. We will always be forgiven. Now you are told you are no longer living as God would have you live if you hold to the beliefs our fathers had and try to live the life they lived. It is really a struggle to know what to do. Are we following God's will if we keep overlooking the sins we commit and say it is in the name of forgiveness and grace? But if we overlook sin, are we turning farther and farther from God and going deeper and deeper into sin?
