Exodus Chapter 17
Do you understand the battlefield is not only on earth?
Do you look to God for help in your battles?
Do you petition God for help in your families' battles?
Music On/Off

The second half of this chapter shows us the battle where the Amalekites are attacking Israel. Look at the characters in this event and imagine them as characters in our life.
Amalekites are the things in the world that come against your tribe, your family.
We see Joshua in the physical world. Battling against worldly trials. It is so easy to see this because this is where a great many of us stay. We only see the physical. And the physical is indeed important. But it is not the only battlefield we fight in.
Look at Moses. He is on the mountaintop with his arm raised. Who in your life have their arms raised, petitioning God to help in the battle against the forces that come against us?
While members of your group are going daily into the world to
"stand against the things that come against them" someone
should be lifting up their hands daily to God on their behalf.
And the battle in the spiritual world can be just as exhausting
and tiring as the physical battles. And at times we become tired.
It is very hard to go it alone. This is where Aaron and Hur come in.
Who is Aaron? He is Mose's brother. And he is a priest of God.
Could this point to our friends in a church today? Has any called
you brother?
Hur was the son of Judah. Just maybe he inherited his father's strength in trying to help others do what is right (talking his brother out of killing Joseph)and sacrificing himself in the times when he could have just walked away.
Wondering why we started with the second half of the chapter? Look back at the first half of the chapter. What had just happened? God had just blessed the children of Israel. Water came from a rock. What a mighty miracle. And right after that miracle, that great blessing, attacks came from the world.
Has that ever happened in your life? Miracles from God happen in your life or in family members' lives, and immediately we suffer from attacks.
