The parable of the laborers in the vineyard is about _________.
Read the text, fill in the blank. I have read this parable several times.
I can't always fill in the blank the same way, each time.
It has been about jealousy and covetousness. At times I see myself as the first to be hired and get angry when someone doesn't labor as much as I do and I see them rewarded as much as I am.
What about the pay that I receive being more important than the satisfaction that I have given my best to the job that I was doing?
How does the Word speak to you as you read it?
The mother of two sons (James and John)came to Jesus and wanted her sons to become leaders. Knowing Jesus's reply, most (if not all) of us look down on her as being too bold, self-centered, thinking of her sons as being more special than the others. But before we do, isn't that the same way we see ourselves? Even now when we know what we know about Christ, we still see ourselves the way the mother saw her sons.
When I was a boy, I had a disease that required me to eat dirt three times a day in order to survive... It's a good thing my older brother told me about it.
