John Chapter 8:1-12
Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.”
John 8:11
Have you ever thought,"I'm not going to get caught. This feels so right."
Did you get caught or has your conscience condemned you?
Since your conviction, how badly have you beat yourself up?
Jesus didn't tell the woman if she stopped sinning he would forgive her. He first said,"Neither do I condemn you."
When you come to Christ, confessing you are a sinner, He will forgive you of your sins. And with His power, you can turn from your sin. You are free from the grip of sin.
Think about who you are in Christ Jesus. Have you grown up in a church where you were taught to bully yourself?
If you constantly say to yourself I’m a dirty, rotten sinner, it will be so. Those are not holy thoughts. In scripture, God never tells us to think that way. On the contrary, He teaches us to say I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am above and not beneath. I am chosen. I am called. I’m free from the bondage of the law. I’m given total grace. Heaven is my home. These are the kinds of thoughts that the scripture teaches us to think. So today I want to convince you to replace your thoughts of shame with thoughts of grace. Go easy on yourself.
You are called to be a child of God.
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.
