John Chapter 19

I have often wondered how much God could have suffered to see His Son dying on the cross.  He knew Jesus would be resurrected. Jesus would be raised to live with Him in heaven. God knew this because God knows the end from the beginning. So how much could He have suffered?

When we suffer from the loss of a loved one, over time the pain eases.

But some time back, an old saint told me that God is not bound by time. God is now in the future. He is in the present. And He is now in the past.

He is now in the past where His Son is dying in agony. He is totally separated from His Son because His Son has taken the sin of the world, past, present, and future, upon Himself. To receive the punishment that should have been ours.

The pain of that is with Him as much today as it was then.

    God loves you that much!
