Ephesians 6:13-24
The King James Version of the bible says,"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,"
All my life I have looked at this verse as so many others have. The men wore tunics that covered most of their legs. In battle, left as they were, the tunics would trip you up. So it was seen as necessary to pull the tunic up into our belt to prevent this. But the verse says, "Stand".
Loins, in scripture, most often refers to the parts of the body where offspring come from.
Girt means "to encircle or bind with a belt or band. To surround; enclose; hem in."

This verse is telling us to protect, bind, our area of the body that is used for reproduction with truth.
Here we must see the truth.
Human reason cannot be my authority for truth. All of us have seen that the greatest minds of men can not agree on truth.
Feelings cannot be my authority. I cannot say, "I feel that this is true." Our feelings can change so quickly.
So what is my authority for truth?

Our truth must come from the God of the Bible.

In the early 1980's there was a song by Johnny Lee called "Looking for Love". Love can be substituted with truth in this song.

Well, I've spent a lifetime lookin' for you;
singles bars and good time lovers were never true.
Playin' a fools game hopin' to win;
and tellin' those sweet lies and losin' again.
I was lookin' for love in all the wrong places,
Lookin' for love in too many faces,
searchin' their eyes and lookin' for traces
of what I'm dreamin' of.

Then you came a knockin' at my heart's door;
You're ev'ry thing I've been lookin' for.
No more lookin' for love in all the wrong places,
Lookin' for love in too many faces,
searchin' their eyes and lookin' for traces
of what I'm dreamin' of.
Now that I've found a friend and a lover;
I bless the day that I discovered
you, oh you;

Yeah. Like you, I spent a lifetime looking in all the wrong places.
But I have found God's word to be true.

And when I saw that God's word was the truth, I realized I too had been "looking for love in all the wrong places."

The God of creation doesn't make mistakes. He created you to be a man or a woman, and what you were created as, is perfect.

And before you jump to the wrong conclusion, I am not homophobic. This is not gay bashing.
This is also for the adulterers, child molesters, husand of more than one wife, those abusive to their spouse....
and "those who look after another and lusts in his heart."
No sin is greater than another. "All have sinned."

We are all sinners. But Jesus Christ, the son of God, came to take away the penalty of our sin. And don't let this escape you. To free us from our life of sin.
